Overview
A BLE tag is a small wireless tag that you attach to a tool. BLE means Bluetooth Low Energy. The tag sends a short-range Bluetooth signal. ToolWatch gateways pick up this signal and record where the tool was last seen. BLE tags do not use GPS.
Before a BLE tag can track a tool, you must link the tag to that tool in ToolWatch. When you link a tag, you tell ToolWatch which tool the tag is on.
This is the fastest way to link a BLE tag. First, you select the item. Then, you scan the QR code on the tag. You do not have to search for nearby tags first.
Before You Begin
The BLE tag must be registered in ToolWatch.
The BLE tag must be turned on. To turn it on, press the button on the tag two times.
You must use the ToolWatch mobile app. This feature is not on the ToolWatch website.
You can link tags from the Warehouse side or the Field side of the app, on iOS or Android.
Note: If the tag is already linked to a different item, the app asks if you want to move the tag to the new item.

Steps to linking Wireless BLE Tags in the Mobile App
Pick the BLE tag you want to assign and hold it with the LED light facing up. The circle in the center is the activation button. Press it twice and a green light should appear and then turn back off.
In the ToolWatch app, if the menu is not open, select the 3-lines icon on the top left
Select 'Wireless Scan'. The Wireless Scanning screen opens.
Select ‘Link Tags’. The Link Tag screen opens.
Find the item you want to link the tag to. Do one of these:
Select the barcode icon next to Enter Or Scan Items, then scan the barcode on the item.
Type the item number or barcode number in the Enter Or Scan Items field.
The item shows below the field. Make sure it is the correct item.
Select the barcode icon below the item, then scan the QR code on the BLE tag. The tag ID shows in the field.
Select ‘LINK TAG’.
Note: If the tag is already linked to a different item, a Tag in use message shows. Select Yes to move the tag to the item you selected. Select No to keep the tag on the other item.
