Overview
The ToolWatch mobile app allows you to detect nearby wireless tags, add any unlinked tags to your organization, and link those tags to existing items.
This workflow can be completed from either the Warehouse side or the Field side of the mobile app. The steps and functions are identical on both sides.
This process is commonly used in the field or warehouse when preparing tools and equipment for wireless tracking.
Before You Begin
Make sure all of the following are true before you start:
The wireless tag has been registered in ToolWatch.
The tag is currently unassigned / not linked to any item.
The tag is powered on and within Bluetooth range of your mobile device.
You have the ToolWatch mobile app installed and are signed in.
You know which existing item in ToolWatch the tag should be linked to.
Only unlinked, registered tags will appear in the Add New Tags scan results.
How to Add and Link New Wireless Tags in the Mobile App
From the default main screen of the mobile app, select WIRELESS SCAN.
On the Wireless Scanning screen, select Add New Tags.
Select Find New Tags.
You may adjust Minimum Signal Strength to control detection sensitivity.
Lower sensitivity may detect more distant tags.
Higher sensitivity shows only stronger (closer) signals.
You may filter results by Manufacturer or choose All tags.
The app will begin scanning and display the number of detected tags and a scan timer.
Only tags that are registered in ToolWatch and not linked to an item will appear in the results.
Select Add next to the tag you want to link.
Review the tag information, including manufacturer, model, serial number, and Unique ID.
Select Link to Existing Item.
Choose how you want to locate the item:
Tools by Employee
Items by Location
Items by Category

If using the search options, select the item description from the results list.
This opens an action menu for that item.
In the action menu, select Link Tag.
After you select Link Tag, the app processes the link and moves to the confirmation message.
Select the barcode icon if you are scanning a barcode instead of using the search options:
Scan the item’s barcode.
When the Item Detail screen opens, select the three-dot menu.
Select Link Tag.
Review the confirmation message that the tag has been successfully linked, then select OK.
Repeat this process to link additional tags, or select the back arrow to return to the previous screen.
Troubleshooting
The tag does not appear in the Add New Tags list.
Confirm the tag is registered in ToolWatch.
Confirm the tag is not already assigned or linked to an item. Only unlinked/unassigned tags appear in this list.
Make sure the tag is powered on and within range.
Select STOP, then select Find New Tags again to restart the scan.
Move closer to the tag or lower the Minimum Signal Strength value.
