About This Feature
The Wireless Scan feature is available in both the Warehouse and Field versions of the ToolWatch mobile app. It allows you to locate wirelessly tagged tools and materials, add new tags, and view scan history—all from your mobile device.
Before You Start
Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device.
Allow system permissions if prompted.
The app may request Bluetooth access before scanning begins.
Scan for Nearby Wireless Tags
Use this feature to locate tools with wireless tags near your mobile device.
Tap Wireless Scan from the main menu.
Tap New Scan.
At the top of the screen, choose the Location where you want to scan.
Tap Start Scan at the bottom of the screen.
After scanning:
Items from the selected location will show a green "SCANNED" stamp.
Items from a different location will show a red "SCANNED" stamp.
Tap Stop Scan at any time to end the process.
Not Found Tab: Shows items that should be in this location but were not detected—use this to identify missing items.
Add New Wireless Tags
Use this to locate new tags and assign them to existing or new items.
Tap Add New Tags.
Set the Minimum Signal Strength using the slider at the top.
Start on the left (low strength) and slowly increase it to narrow results.
(Optional) Tap Manufacturer to filter tags by brand.
Tap Find New Tags and wait 5–10 seconds for results to appear.
Some tag types broadcast at different intervals, so allow time.
When results display, tap ADD next to the desired tag.
You can then choose:
Link to Existing Item if the item is already in ToolWatch.
Create New Item and Link if this is a new item.
(Optional) Enter a Serial Number to help identify the tag.
Tip: Signal strength alone doesn’t equal proximity. Use movement or shielding (like a bag or Faraday box) to help isolate individual tags.
View Scan History
Use this to review past wireless scans and results.
Tap View Scan History.
A list of previous scans will appear in reverse chronological order.
Tap any entry to view full scan details including date, time, and location.
