ToolWatch allows you to add additional charges—called Related Charges—to individual tools listed on a Rate Sheet. These are typically used for unique tools (such as forklifts or generators) when you want to charge for extra services like delivery, pickup, or cleaning each time the tool is assigned.
This process applies only to Tools & Equipment using the Assignment Method, and is visible on the Rate Sheet as a separate row below the original tool.
What Are Related Charges?
A Related Charge is tied to a unique tool and is triggered when that tool is assigned. It's not charged separately or manually—once it's added to the Rate Sheet, it behaves like any other system-calculated charge.
Common use cases:
Delivery Charge for large tools
Return or Cleaning Fee after use
Special Service Fee when assigned
Step-by-Step: Add a Related Charge
Follow these steps to add a Related Charge, matching the action numbers shown in the screenshots.
In the Navigator panel, expand the Job Cost & Billing section.
Click Rate Sheets.
Click the Rate Sheet ID of the Rate Sheet you want to edit (e.g., "101").
In the Rate Sheet grid, click on the tool's model row that will be associated with the Related Charge (e.g., "Backhoe").
Click the + Add Related Charge button at the top of the Rate Sheet grid.
A new row will appear under the selected tool:
In the Item Description column, enter the name of the Related Charge (e.g., “Delivery Fee”)
In the Base Value column, enter the flat charge (e.g., “25.00”)
In the Calculation Method column, select Assignment from the dropdown
Fill in the Initial Charge % and Initial Charge fields if applicable. These determine the first-time charge when assigned.
Click Save and Close at the top of the screen.
Example: Adding a $25 Delivery Charge
In the example on page 2 of the document:
A Backhoe has a new Related Charge called “Delivery Fee”
The charge has a Base Value of $25.00
The Calculation Method is set to Assignment
The Initial Charge % and dollar amount are entered so the system calculates it automatically when the tool is assigned
Important Notes
Related Charges are only available for unique tools
You must use the Assignment Method as the Calculation Method
The new charge appears directly below the model in the Rate Sheet
Use separate rows for each charge type (e.g., delivery, cleaning)
