Overview
The Ingics IGS03M is a plug-in Bluetooth gateway. Other ToolWatch articles call it a wired or wall-mounted gateway. It scans for nearby Bluetooth tags and sends their data to ToolWatch over the cellular network.
The IGS03M is not a GPS device and does not find its own location. It only reports the tags it detects. In ToolWatch, this gateway shows as INGICS iGS03 in the Model column.
Use this article if:
The gateway is offline.
Bluetooth tags are not reporting through the gateway.
The gateway is online but detects no tags.
The gateway is not communicating with ToolWatch.
Important: Do not use the pinhole reset on this gateway. A pinhole reset stops the gateway from working, and ToolWatch Support must set it up again.
Troubleshooting an Ingics IGS03M Plug-In Gateway
In Tracking > Wireless Gateways, check the gateway's Last Scan to see when it last sent data. A plug-in gateway reports about every 10 minutes. The Battery Level column always shows Unknown for plug-in gateways because they do not use batteries. Use Last Scan, not Battery Level, to see if the gateway is working.
Make sure the gateway has power. A gateway with no light has no power. Check the power cord, the plug, and the outlet.
Unplug the gateway, wait 1 minute, and plug it back in.
Make sure the gateway is in an area with cellular service.
Check where the gateway is mounted. Install it in an open area when possible.
Make sure the gateway is not inside an electrical panel or a closed metal cabinet, and not surrounded by large metal objects. Bluetooth signals cannot go through solid metal.
Make sure the Bluetooth tags have enough battery power. For battery information, see Batteries for Gateways, GPS Devices, and BLE Tags.
Make sure the tags are within range. Under ideal conditions, the gateway can detect tags up to about 200 feet away. Walls, steel shelving, and heavy machinery reduce this range.
Check the gateway's Min RSSI setting. See Check the Min RSSI Setting below.
Notes:
A plug-in gateway stops reporting when it loses power. In a truck, this includes when the ignition is off. This is normal.
If the gateway is online but detects no tags, the problem may be with the tags, not the gateway.
When to Contact ToolWatch Support
Contact ToolWatch Support if the gateway still does not report or detect tags after these steps. Some checks can only be done by Support. Support can:
Confirm the gateway is connected to the correct ToolWatch server for your organization.
Confirm the gateway is activated and set up correctly for your organization.
Check the gateway's cellular connection and setup, and set it up again if needed.
Check the Min RSSI Setting
Click Tracking.
Select Wireless Gateways.
Select the checkbox next to the gateway.
Click the Actions drop-down menu and select Edit.
In the Wireless Gateway window, check the Min RSSI field. If the field is blank, the gateway uses the default of -75 and no change is needed. If the field has a number other than -75, change it to -75.
Click Save Changes.
Note: Min RSSI controls how weak a Bluetooth tag signal the gateway accepts. The default is -75. A more negative number, such as -120, accepts weaker signals. Min RSSI does not affect GPS or cellular.
