Manually Creating Unique Tools Not in the ToolWatch Catalog

A Unique Tool is an individually assigned and tracked item that requires monitoring throughout its lifecycle. These tools are typically checked out, used, and returned, ensuring accountability and detailed usage history. Unique Tools often require maintenance, certification, or calibration, distinguishing them from bulk-distributed Quantity Tools.


How to Manually Create Unique Tools Not in the ToolWatch Catalog:

  1. Expand the Inventory section.

  2. Click on Catalog.

  3. Click + Add Model.

    1. A window will appear prompting you to enter details for the new model.

  4. Item Type: Select Tool or Equipment.

  5. Tracking Method: Select Unique ID (Unique ID will be auto selected if Item Type Equipment is chosen).

  6. Manufacturer: Select from the list or add a new one.

  7. Category: Choose or create a category.

  8. Model: Enter the model number.

  9. Description: Provide a brief description of the item.

  10. Click Add Item.

  11. Click + Add Item located at the top of the Model Record window.

    1. Within the Model Record Window you can:

      1. Upload an image (JPEG, PNG, GIF).

      2. Add cost information by expanding the Cost panel (make sure to save changes).

  12. Auto-assigned numbers for Item Number and Barcode appear. Click the pencil icon to edit them.

  13. To add multiple items, click Add and Next. Otherwise, click Add.

    1. The next sequential Item number and Barcode number will be auto assigned. These can be edited.
