Why This Matters
Before importing meter or mileage readings, it's important to set a recurring schedule for collecting this data. This schedule is created at the Tool Model Record level and applies to all existing and future tool records associated with that model.
For example, if a Service Manager wants to update mileage manually for 50 Ford F-250s, setting a Meter Reading Interval ensures those updates are expected on a regular basis. While importing readings via a spreadsheet helps with data entry (see [Import Meter/Mileage Readings]), this schedule determines when those readings should happen.
To set the interval, follow the steps below.
Begin by selecting a Tool Model Record whose tools will have set meter/mileage reading intervals (see Creating a Recurring Service Plan)
Expand the Inventory section.
Select Catalog.
Using the Category list the Search function or Recently Viewed, find and select the Tool Product Record of interest.
Click Product Card to open.
In the Tracking Information section on the right side locate the Meter Required field, click the Pencil button.
Check the Require meter reading every check box.
Enter the number of days for the meter reading to recur.
Click Save Changes.
