Use Work Orders in ToolWatch to document and track service, maintenance, or calibration work needed for tools and equipment. You can create a Work Order from scratch or directly from a Tool Record in the Inventory module.
This article explains both methods and shows how to view Work Orders linked to a tool.
Creating a Work Order from Scratch
Follow these steps to create a new Work Order without selecting a specific tool first:
From the Navigation panel, click Service & Calibration.
Click the Work Orders button — the Work Orders Browser appears.
Click the Create Work Order button — a new Work Order window opens.
In the Item ID field, scan or enter the Tool Number.
Click Enter.
The Description, Manufacturer, Model, and Year fields populate automatically if information is available.
In the Requested Service field, enter a summary of the work that needs to be done.
You can also select an existing description from the drop-down list.
Note: Descriptions in the Requested Service field can be edited or added by going to Administration > Company Lists > Descriptions.

Creating a Work Order from a Tool Record
Follow these steps to create a Work Order directly from a Tool Record:
From the Navigation panel, click Inventory.
Click Item Browser.
Use the Category list or the Search function to find the tool.
Select the item.
From the Action menu, click Create Work Order.
Alternatively, right-click the tool and select Create Work Order.
The Work Order window opens, pre-filled with details from the Tool Record.

Viewing Work Orders Linked to a Tool
Once a Work Order is created, it will appear in the Tool Record. Follow these steps to view open or completed Work Orders for a tool:
From the Navigation panel, click Inventory.
Click Item Browser.
Click the tool number to open the Tool Record.
Alternatively, right-click the tool and select View Detail & Edit Item.
This option is also available from the Action menu.
Select the Service tab.
To view open Work Orders, navigate to Open Work Orders.
To edit an open Work Order, click Edit.
To view completed Work Orders, expand Work Order History and click View.
