The ToolWatch Geotabs integration is focused on ensuring that the two systems share vehicle inventories and current odometer readings.

A uniquely-tracked tool will be created in ToolWatch for every vehicle in Geotabs.
When vehicles are first synced down from Geotabs, an attempt will be made to find a matching Model record in ToolWatch. If one is found, then that Model is used. Otherwise, a new Model will be created, along with any necessary Manufacturers and Descriptions. The Manufacturer, Model, and Model Year are determined by decoding the vehicle's VIN through the NHTSA VIN database — Geotabs does not provide these values directly. The Category is a single fixed value: "GeoTab" by default, or the Category Name configured in the integration settings.

ToolWatch does not set an Item Number or Barcode for Geotabs-synced equipment; those fields are left blank.
When vehicles are synced to ToolWatch, the vehicle's odometer reading is synced to the item's meter level.

When the Sync Engine Hours setting is enabled, ToolWatch reads each vehicle's engine hours from Geotabs and records them as Equipment Hours. A new reading is only saved when it exceeds both the configured Engine Hours Threshold and the current on-file value.
