The Org Tree follows a nested structure, where a parent location has visibility over its nested locations. For example, a Main Warehouse may include a central corporate warehouse at the top level, with regional warehouses such as Riverside Warehouse and Stoneybrook below it, each further divided into subsidiaries.
The Org Tree (located in the top left corner of ToolWatch) uses a "pinning" system to determine what users can see and manage, based on their assigned Stock Location. Only Stock Locations are visible in the Org Tree, and an employee’s view is determined by where they are pinned. Employees are assigned a Stock Location upon creation of their access to ToolWatch, which defines their access to inventory data. A user pinned at the Main Warehouse can see all nested Stock Locations below it. The Org Tree allows organizations with multiple Stock Locations to easily select, view, and track inventories.
How Item Visibility Works with the Org Tree
When you add items to ToolWatch, they are automatically owned by the Stock Location you are pinned to on the Org Tree.
Only the owning Stock Location and its parent locations can see those items by default.
If you need other Stock Locations—whether parallel or below in the Org Tree—to see the items, those items must be owned by those specific Stock Locations.
When pinned to a Stock Location, you can only see:
Items located at a Stock Location the pinned Stock Location is the parent of, and/or
Items owned by the pinned Stock Location.
Users can check or change their pinned location at the top of the Navigator Panel by selecting a different location from the drop-down menu.
