Efficient management of stock locations and user settings is essential for maintaining inventory visibility and ensuring smooth supply requests within ToolWatch.
Moving a Job to a Different Stock Location
To change the assigned stock location for a job, follow these steps:
Navigate to and expand Administration.
Expand Company Lists.
Select Locations.
Locate and edit the specific job you wish to modify.
Select the Parent Location dropdown menu and choose the desired location.
Select Save.
Viewing and Changing Item Locations
To view an item's location, use the Item Browser under the Inventory section and refer to the Assignment column.
Alternatively, navigate to Reports and Graphs > Reports > Tool Reports to run a location report.
To change an item's location, you must initiate a transfer.
You can do this by adding the item to a transfer via the Item Browser or by starting a new transfer under Inventory Movement > Transfer Tickets.
Ensuring Inventory Visibility for Item Requests
Proper visibility settings are crucial for making supply requests. If items are not populating when a user attempts to make a request, verify their "pinning" settings:
Verify that the user is pinned to the correct parent stock location with item visibility, such as the South Division.
Avoid pinning the user to lower-level stock locations, such as Truck 3- South, as these locations may lack visibility for categories, locations, or employees.
Note: Ensure the user is pinned to a higher-level location to guarantee items populate correctly when requests are made.
Understanding Visibility and Ownership
Item visibility is determined by user permissions related to stock location assignments and ownership:
Visibility by Assignment: Users can view items assigned to their stock location and its child locations, regardless of who owns the item.
Visibility by Ownership: Users can view items owned by their stock location (or its child locations), even if those items are assigned elsewhere.
Full Visibility: To see all inventory across all locations, assign the user to the root stock location.
Troubleshooting Missing Data or Incorrect Locations
If your view displays incorrect locations or you cannot see associated projects, the issue may stem from the user profile or a database error. Follow these steps to resolve it:
Click your profile image (top right)
Select Log Out.
Go to cloud.alignops.com
Log back in using your assigned username and password.
If the password is forgotten, use the Forgot Password option to reset it.
Ensure you are using the correct account associated with your projects and pinned locations.
Note: The ToolWatch hierarchical structure ensures users can access necessary data while maintaining organizational control over permissions.
