The Advanced Search feature in the Item Browser helps you quickly locate tools or materials based on specific criteria. It is available in both the Tools & Equipment and Materials & Consumables tabs.
How to Use Advanced Search
Go to Inventory > Item Browser.
Select either the Tools & Equipment or Materials & Consumables tab.
Click Advanced Search above the item list.
Enter one or more of the available search criteria. You can filter by:
Item Number / Barcode
Type
Serial Number
Vin
Wireless Tagged Items
Status
Class
Certification
Assignment
License Plate Number
Department
Supervisor
Kit Number
Responsible Party
License Plate State
Click Search to update the results.
Click Clear to reset the search fields.
Click Close to collapse the Advanced Search panel.
Can’t Find an Item?
If you can’t find an item number, tool number, or barcode number, try the following:
Search the Managed Retired Tools browser to check if the item was retired.
Check the Recycle Bin to see if the item was deleted or archived.
Click the gear icon in the lower-right corner of the Item Browser and enable Explode Kits to show items assigned to kits.
These options help you locate items that may not appear in standard search results.
The Explode Kits setting ensures kit components are included, even if they aren’t individually assigned.
Tips for Better Results
Combine filters to narrow your results (e.g., “Type = Drill” + “Status = In Use”).
Use the Show Fully Allocated Items toggle if you're not seeing certain items.
Search options vary slightly between Tools & Equipment and Materials & Consumables, so start with the correct tab.
