Stock Locations
A Stock Location is a central hub where inventory is stored, managed, and distributed. These are typically manned and responsible for tool and material handling.
Examples include:
Warehouses
Manned job trailers or tool containers
Trucks that carry a permanent supply of tools or materials
📌 Important: Materials created at a Stock Location are tracked. If transferred to a Job Location, they are considered consumed.
Job (Non-Stock) Locations
A Job (Non-Stock) Location represents temporary or active project sites where tools and materials are used, not stored long-term.
Key characteristics:
Inventory cannot be created at Job Locations
Tools are transferred here from Stock Locations
Materials sent here are considered consumed
These locations are not visible in the Organization Tree
How to Create a New Location
Steps to Create a Stock or Job (Non-Stock) Location
Use these steps to create either type of location. The key difference is whether or not you select the "This is a Stock Location" checkbox in Step 6.
From the left-hand Navigator Panel, expand the Administration section.
Click the arrow next to Company Lists.
Select Locations.
Click Create New in the top right corner.
In the Parent Location dropdown, select the appropriate stock location this new location will belong under.
Example: If creating a Tool Crib under a Denver Warehouse, choose Denver Warehouse as the Parent Location.
Decide the type of location:
To create a Stock Location, check the box labeled "This is a stock location"
To create a Job (Non-Stock) Location, leave the box unchecked
Enter a clear name in the Description field.
If creating a Job Location, include the Job Number in both the Description and Location Number fields to improve visibility in reports and dropdowns.
Click Save.
