Merging Duplicate Models in the Catalog

Learn how to manually merge duplicate unique models in the ToolWatch Catalog to keep your inventory clean and accurate.

Maintaining a clean and accurate Catalog is essential for tracking your company’s tools and equipment efficiently. Over time, duplicate entries for the same unique model can accidentally be created. Merging these duplicates consolidates your historical data, tracked items, and quantities into a single accurate model record.

Important Note: The standard Data Merge Utility tool in ToolWatch is strictly reserved for merging list items. To combine unique equipment models, you must use the Merge Products feature directly within the Catalog workflow outlined below.

How to Merge Duplicate Models

Follow these chronological steps to manually select and combine duplicate models in the web platform:

  1. On the left navigation menu, click Inventory.

  2. Select Catalog.

  3. Navigate to the appropriate category.

  4. Click the checkboxes on the product cards for the duplicate models you want to combine.

  5. Click the Actions dropdown menu and select Merge Products.

Tip: The Merge Products option will only appear in the dropdown menu when you have explicitly selected two or more models. If you only select a single model, the menu will display Merge Duplicates instead, which instructs ToolWatch to automatically search the system for matching items.
