The Rate Sheet User Interface

Rate Sheet Tabs

The AlignOps Rate Sheet has two tabs:

  • Job Cost

  • Billing

Job Cost is for Job Cost rates, and Billing is for Billing rates.

Both are treated identically by the software, although they accrue data independently and can be configured equally. Since ToolWatch accrues Job Cost and Billing charges simultaneously, we will use the term "charge" to refer to both.

The "Job Cost" and "Billing" tabs share identical formats, displaying the same data across rows and columns. However, the rates and calculations within these tabs are customized to serve distinct purposes. Typically, the "Job Cost" tab uses rates that mirror actual costs incurred by the organization, while the "Billing" tab employs rates designed to generate higher revenue from internal or external customers.

Keep in mind that if both tabs are set up with the same rates, they will produce the same data.

  • Think of Job Costs as how much it COSTS YOU for others to use your tools, etc. – your maintenance and purchase costs.

  • Think of Billing as how much YOU CHARGE others to use your tools, etc. – your revenue.
